Helen A. (Delaney) McElwee, 88, of Birch Street, Wilkes-Barre, died Saturday at Geisinger Medical Center.
Born Dec. 28, 1915, in Carbondale, she was a daughter of the late James and Kathryn (McHale) Delaney. She was a graduate of Pittston High School and Pittston Hospital School of Nursing. Prior to marriage, Mrs. McElwee was a registered nurse at Pittston Hospital and in private duty. She was a member of St. Therese's Parish, Wilkes-Barre.
Her husband, Austin E., died July 14, 1993. Sisters, Mary George and Ruth Trevethan, and brothers, James and Joseph Delaney, also preceded her in death.
Surviving are sons, Robert J., of Piscataway, N.J.; Austin P., of Easton; sisters, Doreen McHale, of Bethlehem; Joan Guerin, of Philadelphia.
Funeral will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. from McLaughlin Family Funeral Service, 142 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre, with funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Saint Therese's Church. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
