Nettie was born in Morgan County, Kentucky unto parents George and Amanda (Ross) Littrel. Her birth was welcomed by siblings, Clarence, Leonard, Sam and Edgar. The family would soon grow to include Buford, Luther, Mabel, John, George and James.

Nettie grew up in Morgan County, Kentucky and after her marriage to Edgar Coffey, she lived in Morgan County, Tennessee. It is in Tennessee where she spent the remainder of her life, enjoying 60 years of marriage with Edgar and raising a family of six children. Following Edgar’s death in 1988, Nettie married Thomas Lane. Nettie was a member of the Cedar Grove Baptist Church.

Nettie passed away at the home of her daughter in Kingston, Tennessee. She leaves two daughters, four sons, 24 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and one brother. Funeral services were held Friday, September 5th and she was laid to rest the following day at Piney Grove Cemetery.

Nettie Coffey Lane, age 91 of Kingston, passed away Thursday, September 5, 2002 at the home of her daughter, Shari Pickel. Member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church.

Preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Edgar Coffey and Thomas Lane. Long time setter with many children in the Roane County area.

Survivors include: daughters, Pauline Freels of Dayton, Ohio, Shari L. Pickel of Kingston, sons, Robert T. Coffey of Rockwood, Jack L. Coffey and Frank D. Coffey both of Dayton, Ohio, George W. Coffey of Westville, Indiana, brother, James Litteral of West Liberty, Kentucky, 24 grandchildren, 34 great- grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren.

The funeral will be 8:00 p.m. Friday in Kyker Chapel with Kenny Plemons and Randy Griffis officiating. Burial at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Piney Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday at Kyker Funeral Home in Kingston.
