FUNERAL

The Funeral of JOSEPH G. THOMPSON

Will take place at his residence at corner of Pike and Chestnut Sts. in Clarksburg, W.Va, at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 27, 1890. Friends of the family are invited.

Joseph G. Thompson Esq., who died suddenly in this city on Tuesday of last week valvular heart disease, came to this city about the year 1854, where he had since been actively engaged in business. He was a man of firm convictions, and in religion he was a conscientious Unitarian. His trust in God of nature and he believed in a future life after death. In this belief and hope he lived and died. The funeral took place Thursday afternoon. Rev. Bowles conducted the service. His remains were interred at the Odd Fellow's Cemetery. The deceased left three sons and a widow who have the sympathy of our people in their Bereavement.

Though a Virginian by birth, his early life was spent in Fayette County, Pennsylvania having resided at Clarksburg since 1854. Naturally intellectual, he was a man of sterling integrity and firm and well defined convictions, a kind and intellectual father and devoted husband. In religion he was an Unitarian, and trusted in the God of nature and believed in a future existence after death. In this belief and hope he lived and died.
