Evelyn S. Amburgey, age 76, of Portage, passed away on Wednesday, July 7, 2004 at Porter Memorial Hospital. She was born, September 6, 1927 in Dante, Virginia, the daughter of Roy and Rosa Hall. A Portage resident since 1953, she worked in food preparation for Midwest. She was married to Oscar Amburgey on January 11, 1947 in Clintwood, Virginia, and he preceded her in death on August 15, 1993. She was a member and very active at the Eunice Bonner Senior Center and a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Portage. She is survived by one brother, Ron (Donna) Hall of Chesterton; two sisters, Colleen Meahl of Florida and Peggy (Kline) Jones of Florida; two nephews, Ron and Michael Hall and one niece, Sue Hood, special friend Cheryl Adams, many other loving family members and special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother and one sister A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 11, 2004 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Engel Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held, Monday, July 12, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Engel Funeral Home, 2700 Willowcreek Road, Portage, IN 46368, with Pastor Steve Peterson of Evangelical Covenant Church officiating.
