CLEARFIELD--Our devoted and beloved father, Rex Flint Hill, 74, was called back to his Father-in-Heaven, Sunday, August 28, 1994.
He was born September 28, 1919 in Kaysville, Utah, a son of Joseph Melvin and Cora Pearl Flint Hill.
He married Bonnie Snyder Abbott in 1944 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were later divorced. He married Marie Lucille Eversole, in 1946 in Pocatello, Idaho. They were later divorced. He was a lifelong resident of Davis County and lived in Clearfield for 25 years. He was born and raised on a farm where at the age of 11 he took first place with his Holstein calf at the Davis County Fair in 1931. He bred and showed registered Appaloosa and Quarterhorses throughout most of his life.
He graduated from Davis High School in 1937, lettering in football, track and wrestling. He carried the name ''Bunker Hill'' throughout high school and college. He attended Utah State Agriculture College (Utah State University) on a football scholarship, graduating in 1941. He was initiated into Pi Kappa Alpha in 1938, and was affiliated into the 1980's. He earned his varsity football letter in 1938 as a guard, played for the Aggies from 1938-1940. He was also on the varsity wrestling team.
He was a member of the LDS Church and was called to serve in the Australian Mission in June of 1940, later changed to the Eastern Canadian-Toronto Mission0when Australia entered the war8He was released from his mission July 1942.
He was self-employed all his life and was a well-known businessman throughout Northern Utah. He owned and operated Rex Hill Motor Sales, becoming a charter member of the Car Dealer Association of Utah in 1946. He supplied thousands of families with automobiles and beautiful custom flocked Christmas trees for many years. He retired in 1975.
He was a member of the Clearfield Chamber of Commerce.
He will be remembered for his great friendship to any person he came in contact with. He was devoted to his family and children and was always there to help, aid, work with and laugh with. He will be missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
Surviving are one son and two daughters, Steven Rex Hill (Joanne), Clearfield, Utah; Lynda Thurgood (Lewis), Peterson, Utah; Rexana Jones (Tracey), Albuquerque, New Mexico; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are three brothers and two sisters, Richard Hill, Joseph (Judy) Hill, both of Kaysville, Utah; Jack Hill, Farmington, Utah; Ramona Gailey (Clyde), and Carol Dean Page (Wayne), all of Layton, Utah.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 2, 1994, 1 p.m. at Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main Street, where friends may call Friday from 11 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
