Mrs. Harry Stuart Fonda - Special to the New York Times - San Francisco, Sept. 11 - Mrs. May MacLeod Fonda, wife of Harry Stuart Fonda, well-known artist, died at her home yesterday. Mrs. Fonda was a native of Boston, but had lived here and in Monterey, Cal., for thirty years. The romance which culminated in her marriage began while she was studying singing in Paris with Mme. Marchesi and Mr. Fonda was an art student in the French capital. Mrs. Fonda took and active part in artistic and musical affairs of San Francisco. Besides her husband she left a daughter, Mrs. Elsie Fonda Martin, wife of Captain Lewis Martin, U.S.A., now stationed at West Point. New York Times, September 12, 1929.
