A Sudden Call

Esq. J. C. Gilbert of Prospect died suddenly Sunday morning. Esq. Gilbert was apparently well as usual, but had appeared a little nervous for a day or two.

Sunday morning he went across the road for a bucket of water, his well having gone dry. He drew the water, and just as he turned to go home, he threw up both hands and collapsed. Friends ran to him, but he never spoke, and was dead in a few seconds.

The body was buried at Prospect Monday afternoon, with funeral services conducted by Rev. Robert Wait.

Esq. Gilbert had been a member of the County Court for a long time perhaps about forty years. He was a good man and a good citizen who will be greatly missed in the county.
