Lucile Buffum, 95, of Sterling House of Greeley, Greeley, Colo., formerly of Canton, died Friday (December 18, 2009) at Sterling House.
Born February 22, 1914, in Canton, the daughter of George and Della White, she married Jack Buffum on April 27, 1935, in Lewistown. He preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter, Virginia Linn; and two sisters, Mildred Oaks and and Lela Wheeler.
Survivors include two sons, Roy Buffum of Phoenix, Ariz. and Rocky Buffum of Lincoln, Neb.; one daughter, Judy (Buffum) Linn of Greeley; eight grandchildren, Nan (Linn) Krull of Hoffman Estates, Diana (Linn) Bates of O'Fallon, Mo., Edie Linn of Greeley, Anne Buffum of Portland, Ore., Cindy Buffum of Lincoln, Brad Buffum of Lincoln, Scott Buffum of Flagstaff, Ariz., and Stacey (Buffum) Overton of Fort Collins, Colo.; five great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church of Canton and the First United Methodist church in Greeley. She was president of the United Methodist Women in Canton.
Lucile was born and raised in Canton, and after her children were raised, she worked at the Canton State Bank. She later worked as a bookkeeper in the Coleman Medical Clinic. She enjoyed traveling with her family and friends. She later moved to Greeley to be near her daughter and family.
She was a board member of the YWCA in Canton, and was active in the American Red Cross during World War II.
Burial will be held in May 2010 at White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton. Cremation Rites have been accorded.
