James Belton was the son of George T. & Loreana Reavis whom lived in Grassy Cove, Tn. James Belton married Fannie Goodrum in Fort Worth Texas. He worked on cattle farms in the early 1900s. Rumors in the family say that, after a bout with the law, he was given the choice of leaving the territory freely or taking the consequences, It's also rumored that he had gotten into a gang and was robbing trains. All we know is that once he came to Georgia he never returned to Texas or Oklahoma. He became a religious man, raising his children Joe, Loreana, Ruthie, Mary Alice, Paul Douglas, Leon, Everett, & Thomas, and just being a gentle soul.
