|THE SIGN READS-The area of this rest garden has been in private ownership since at least 1595 when as the Conduit Field it belonged to the Bell Inn.The field contained many springs, from which water was drained into a well and then piped into two troughs on the Uxbridge Road. These were an important source of water for Acton residents and travellers.|
The site remained an open field until 1864 when it became the Burial ground for ST.Marys Church.
The burial ground is found on the Churchfield Road/Grove Place W.3- about a 5/10 minute straight walk from St Mary at 1 The Mount.
Also has been known as Acton Old Cemetry or Churchfield burial Ground.
