Benson "Ben" Stevens Allen, 69, passed away Saturday, October 12, 2013, at his home.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Bethpage Presbyterian Church. Rev. Ellen Campbell Gardner will officiate. Interment will follow at Bethpage Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 9:00 pm Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Lady's Funeral Home.

Mr. Allen was born on September 11, 1944 in Rowan County. He was a son of the late Edgar David Allen and Annie Mae Holcomb Allen. Mr. Allen graduated from W.R. Odell High School in 1962 and served in the US Army from 1966 to 1968 in Germany. He worked at Cannon Mills from 1962 to 1966, Duke Power from 1969 to 1983 and retired from Phillip Morris working 1983 to 2005. Mr. Allen was a life time member of Bethpage Presbyterian Church. He has enjoyed dirt track racing for the past twelve years.

Mr. Allen is survived by two sons, Trent Allen and wife Jennifer and Tim Allen and wife Lisa, both of Kannapolis; sister, Betsy Allen of Morganton; brother, James D. Allen and wife Carol of Kannapolis; and three grandchildren, Brenn Allen, Brae Allen and Britt McLain.
