Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. in Sabylund Lutheran church of Stockholm for Clifford R. Hassel, 56. The Rev. Carl H. Gronquist officiated and burial was in New Sabylund cemetery.

Mr. Hassel died Thursday, July 27, while haying on his farm. Born July 1, 1911 at Villard [Township], N.D., he moved to Stockholm with his parents as a child. He was a member of Sabylund Lutheran church, where he sang in the choir and served as custodian. In addition to farming, he repaired watches and electric appliances. For several years, he was assessor in the town of Stockholm.

Surviving are a brother, Melvin O. Hassel, two aunts, an uncle and several cousins. The body was held in state at the Swanby funeral home in Maiden Rock.
