Vera Leora Whiteley Benge, long-time Emmett resident passed away October 5, 2013 in Emmett. Vera was born November 19, 1920 to Myron and Kate Warwood Whiteley about ten miles West of Emmett.
She is survived by three children: Jim (Marilyn Heath) of Davenport, WA; Wes (Ruth Walker) of Springville, UT; and Karalee Dobbs (Reg) of Meridian and sisters Thelma Ziegler of Emmett and Virginia Ombach of St. George, UT. She leaves behind 18 grandchildren and 66 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brothers Alvah, Floyd, Eldon, and sisters Helen Vickery, Marie Arizabala, and Evelyn Atkinson.
Services honoring Vera's life will be held in the Emmett LDS Stake Center located at 980 W. Central Road. The service will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 12. There will be a viewing Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Potter Funeral Chapel and 9:00-10:20 a.m. at the church prior to the funeral. Interment will follow at the Emmett Cemetery.
