V. Arlene Miller, 81, of Strasburg died Monday, June 5, 2000 at the New Dawn Health Care Center following a brief illness.

Born September 20, 1918 in Stone Creek she was a daughter of the late Roy and Verba Isenogle Haas.

She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Strasburg and was Past President of the St. Jacobs Homecoming Committee. She also enjoyed growing flowers and gardening.

Arlene was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Vernon G. Miller, who died on June 6, 1997.

She is survived by six children:
Jane and Al Lester of Strasburg
Harlan and Helen Miller of Strasburg
Larry and Sue Miller of Strasburg
Edith and Larry Sisson of Bolivar
James and Carol Miller of Strasburg
Rita and James Rowe of Strasburg

Five sisters:
Vivian Sweebe of Canton
Marjorie Ott of Canton
Lois Rose of Newcomerstown
Donna and Jack Danley of Kimbolton
Doris Jenkins of New Philadelphia

15 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 7 step-great grandchildren

She was also preceded in death by a grandson and a sister.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 9, 2000 at 2:00 pm in the St. John United Church of Christ at Strasburg with Rev. Dana Keirstead officiating. Interment will be at the St. Jacobs Cemetery in Stone Creek. Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home in Dover on Thursday from 6-9 pm.
