William Campbell White, Sr., son of Mark and Serelda Wright White, a life long resident of Macon County, passed away at the Samaritan Hospital in Macon, June 27, 1944 at the age of 94 years, 9 months and 17 days.
He was united in marriage to Sallie Grace Gresham, March 10, 1873 who preceded him in death, May 16, 1928. They were the parents of ten children. Those surviving are: Mrs. May McCune, Brookfield; Dr. Mollie White, Stephens' College Faculty, Columbia; Miss Marie White of the home; W. C. White, Jr., R.R.2, Macon; Daniel Webster White, Anabel, R.R.1. Other surviving near relatives are his sisters, Mrs. Fannie Banta, Lewiston, Idaho; Mrs. Wm. Gates, Anabel and one-half sister, Mrs. Ralph Talbot. One brother, Douglas White, one half brother, Mark White, his step-mother, Mrs. Mark White, Sr., all of Macon. Eleven grand children, ten great grand children, one great-great grand child and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mr. White had lived in Macon at 201 Douglas street for 25 years, and for the past five years his daughter, Marie, has carefully nursed him through a long invalidism.
The funeral service was conducted Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Albert Skinner Home for Funerals by the Reverend Kring Allen of Brookfield, a former pastor of the Macon Christian Church. Interment at Bethel Cemetery.
Mr. White was one of Macon stock men and until his health failed was vitally interested and took an active part in the progress of the community where he had lived his entire life.
