Vernetta Arenz, 100, of Leonore, died at 3:22 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6, 1999, at her residence.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sts. Peter & Paul Church, Leonore. The Rev. Charles McCarthy will officiate. Music will be provided by Norma Salz, organist. Songs will include "On Eagle's Wings."
Burial will be in Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Leonore. Serving as pallbearers will be Norman Arenz, Fred Uftring, Dan Wiesbrock and Kenneth Zimmerman.
Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Solon & Baker Funeral Home, Streator, is in charge of the arrangements.
Born Oct. 23, 1899, in Leonore, she was the daughter of John and Emma (Meyers) Zimmerman. She married Arthur Arenz on June 21, 1932. He died March 30, 1981.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; and brothers, LeRoy, Ralph and Wilbur Zimmerman.
A lifelong resident of Leonore, she and her husband owned and operated Arenz Grocery Store in Leonore until retirement. They had also farmed in Vermillion Township until retirement.
She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Leonore. She was a lifetime member of St. Ann's Sodality.
