Percola is the daughter of Reverend William Mack King and Cora Inez Cobbs of Kinston. She is a sister to Puryear, Mariah Linie, James Willis, Madeline, Matthew Lee King and Ruth Inez King Freeman. Their mother died of puerperal eclampsia in June 1921. Their father would remarry.

James Willis died at age 15, in 1926, of acute nephritis.

Percola was sent to the asylum at age 15 and she was in care here for 2 yr 2 mo 5 days and died of Mitral Regurgitation.

Her brother, Matthew Lee, would die of acute appendicitis at age 20 in 1937.
