Funeral for Mrs. Mary A. Rees.
Mrs. Mary A. Rees, who died Wednesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lena Allen, 105 Rural, was born January 8, 1848, at Pittsfield, Ill. Her maiden name was Mary A. Moran.
She was married November 5, 1865, to David Rees, of Litchfield, Ill. Six children were born. Mr. and Mrs. Rees came to Emporia in 1896. Mr. Rees died in Emporia September 11, 1918.
Mrs. Rees had been an invalid for four years and had been living with her daughter, Mrs. Allen. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist church.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Allen, and Mrs. Nora Crawford, of Cristoval, Texas. A son, Clyde Rees, died in Emporia December 17th. A sister, Mrs. Ella Irwin, of Pittsburg, also survives, as do nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 2:30 o'clock Friday at the Seventh Day Adventist church. Rev. C. S. Wiest, of Topeka, conducted the services. Interment was in Maplewood cemetery. Pallbearers were W. O. Allen, E. Stady, Edgar O'Connell, Robert Wasson, Ace Snow, and J. J. Richardson.
Out-of-town relatives here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Moran and son Clyde, of Osage City; Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Irwin, of Parsons, and H. J. Moran and William Moran, of Topeka.
