Gloria A. Burgess, 77, Altoona, died Wednesday in Altoona.

She was born in Clearfield, daughter of Maurice and Barbara (Hershey) Griffin. She married Ralph Burgess, and he preceded her in death in March 1986.

Surviving are two sons: Ralph Jr. and wife, Dawn, in California and Terry in Maryland; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including a grandson serving in Afghanistan.

She was preceded in death by three sons: Patrick, Larry and infant Maurice; and a daughter, Debbie. She was the last surviving of 11 children.

Gloria had been employed as a private-duty caregiver in New York. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, a former cook at the Clearfield American Legion and a senior companion with Blair Senior Services. She enjoyed cooking, baking and making candy and crafts.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg, followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. Interment will be at New Canoe Creek Cemetery.
