OBITUARY-
Monsignor Frank Enright, 84, of Austin, died Friday, Oct. 19, 2001, at Austin Medical Center.
Father Enright was born Nov. 5, 1916, in Rose Creek to Thomas and Anne (Murphy) Enright.
He went to St. Augustine grade school and graduated from Pacelli High School.
He attended St. Mary's College in Winona and after graduation, he completed his studies for the priesthood at the St. Paul Seminary in St. Paul.
He was ordained March 20, 1943, by Bishop Leo Binz at St. Thomas Church in Winona. His first assignment was as a secretary for Bishop Binz, a post held until 1946.
In 1944, he was named administrator of St. Rose of Lima parish in Lewiston and was named pastor in 1948.
During that Pastorate, Father Enright became assistant chancellor of the diocese, a post held until 1949. In 1950, he became pastor for Mater Dolorosa parish in Madelia, serving there for 20 years.
In 1970, he was named pastor of St. Mary's parish in Chatfield and in 1978, of St. Mary's in Winnebago, where he stayed until his retirement on June 30, 1986.
Since his retirement, Father Enright has been the Chaplain at Sacred Heart Care Center in Austin and also helping at St. Augustine Catholic Church.
He celebrated 50 years as a priest in 1993.
Survivors include many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Larry, sister-in-law, Mary and his aunt, Marian Enright.
Service: 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 22, 2001, at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Bishop Bernard Harrington officiating, along with the priests of the Diocese of Winona. Arrangements will be made by Mayer Funeral Home.
Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. today at Sacred Heart Care Center Chapel and from 5 to 9 p.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church, where there will be a 7 p.m. wake service. There will also be visitation one hour before the service at St. Augustine on Monday.
