Betty was born on January 12, 1934 in Dandridge, TN to Howard and Ida Woody Smith. She worked in the Repair Department at the Sheaffer Pen Company, retiring in 1993. Betty enjoyed taking care of her home and her flowers.
Survivors include her partner, Don Gillenwater of Nauvoo, IL; two sons, Lee (Anne) Fields of Lake Mary, FL and Johnny (Debbie) Johnson of Magnolia, TX; three grandchildren, Erin & Shannon Fields of Lake Mary, FL and Jessica Johnson of Houston, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents and ex-husband, Clarence Fields.
Friends may call after 3 PM on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory in Fort Madison, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM. A private family burial will take place in the Nauvoo City Cemetery. Per her wishes, her body has been cremated by King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. A memorial has been established in her memory.
