Jerry Ritchie Chubb, 64, of Warsaw and formerly of Sullivan, passed away at 8 a.m. Monday, April 14, 2003, at Kosciuskco Community Hospital in Warsaw. Born Dec. 1, 1938, in Sullivan, he was the son of Roy and Nellie (Ritchie) Chubb. He was a math and computer teacher at Warsaw High School from 1970-89. He was named Educator of the Year in 1987. He also worked at Loy's Music Company and at Rensselaer High School for five years. He was a member of Milford Christian Church, and formerly served as a decon; Warsaw Breakfast Optimist Club; Warsaw American Legion Post 49. In 1986 he was named Optimist of the year. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1958-63 in Turkey. He was a 1957 graduate of Sullivan High School and held BS and Masters degress from ISU. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann (Alexander) Chubb of Warsaw; one son, Christoper Dale Chubb of Jacksonville, Fla.; one daughter, Julie Ann "Marty" Sheckler of Uniondale; one brother, Lonie Chubb of Baker, La., and five grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at the Center Ridge Cemetery in Sullivan at 3:30 p.m. on Friday with Marty Shecker officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 139 Sullivan; 197 Shelburn; and 298 Hymera.
