Jean E. Bazar, 92, of Cressona, passed away peacefully Thursday at home.
Born in Beckville, July 24, 1921, she was a daughter of the late William and Elsie Beck Trometter. She lived in Cressona most of her life.
She was a graduate of Cressona High School and completed a two-year secretarial course at Drexel Institute of Technology (now Drexel University), Philadelphia.

She worked as a secretary to the Dean of the School of Education, University of Pennsylvania, and later at the law firm of Foulkrod, Sheppard, Porter and Alexander.
When she returned to Cressona, she worked as a teller at the First National Bank of Cressona, which later became the Pennsylvania National Bank (now M&T Bank).

After her career, she spent many years caring for six of her eight grandchildren during their preschool years and volunteering at Blue Mountain Elementary West and later at Blue Mountain Elementary Cressona library.
She was a member of St. Ambrose Church, Schuylkill Haven, and the Cressona Historical Society.

She was an avid writer and a few of her short stories and several of her poems were published to her delight. Her hobbies included reading, crocheting, crossword puzzles and caring for her flower garden.
