John William Myers was gored by a bull on his farm in Oklahoma, but survived the attack. John and " Tennie" later sold the farm and moved to Des Moines, Iowa, where they lived only a couple of years before returning to farm in Missouri. One summer while clearing weeds and brush on the farm he was stung in the top of the head by a bee or wasp. Afterwards, he became very ill and never recovered, he only lived a couple of years. He was interred at MT. Gilead Cemetery on County Road 124 (between Fayette and Harrisburg). The church is no longer there and the Cemetery was maintained until 1999 by Cordie Naylor, the son of Tennie's sister, Fannie Myers Naylor. Because of Cordie's age and physical condition he is no longer able to do this type of work. John William's remains were moved to Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Fayette in the late 1940's or early 1950's and Tennie was buried beside him in April1957
