A 1959 transcription of records of the Steltz Union Church in Codorus Twp., York Co., PA, shows the birth or baptism of Jacob occurred on Oct. 8, 1799.
Jacob and his wife were the parents of 8 Civil War participants. They were also the parents of two younger sons, William R. and Jacob R., and two daughters (for info on the second daughter, see epitaph for daughter, Eliza Jane).
