NEWPORT: V. Grace Burkepile, 84, of Newport, passed away peacefully to go home with the Lord on Thursday, July 25, 2013. She was born February 25, 1929 in Port Royal to James A. and Ida (Bell) Hostler. She was retired from the former United Telephone Co. and was a member of the Newport First Church of God. She enjoyed gardening and reading.
Grace is survived by her husband of 67 years, G. Eugene Burkepile; children, Gerald Eugene Burkepile of Duncannon, James R. Burkepile of Jonestown and Diane G. Thomson of Mechanicsburg; grandchildren, Carol A. Clabaugh of Landisburg, Nathan A. Burkepile of Hikurangi, New Zealand, Joni M. Groff of Kinalon, NJ and Amos P. Burkepile of Elizabethtown; great-grandchildren, Joel, Hannah and Allison Clabaugh, Ethan, Sophia and Josiah Groff and Karissa, Owen and Tyler Burkepile; sisters, Lillian Reisinger of Mechanicsburg, Sara Bargo of Port Royal and Helen Conard of Thompsontown; and brother, John Hostler of Texas. She was preceded in death by brothers, James, Robert and George Hostler and sister, Margaret Beward.
Family and friends are invited to the service on Sunday at the Newport First Church of God with a viewing from 1PM until 2 PM and the funeral service to follow. Burial is in the Newport Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to Newport First Church of God, 334 South 5th Street, Newport 17074.
