Spencer Tanner Winn, passed away peacefully at his home in St. George, Utah on Thursday, July 18, 2013, with loved ones by his side. He was 92 years old. He was born October 7, 1920, in Nephi, Utah, to William Stanley and Flora Tanner Winn. He married Thora Palmer on April 20, 1942, in the Logan LDS temple.
Spencer was a faithful and active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout his whole life. He was called to serve in the California Mission and did so with honor. among many other callings, he served as Bishop of the Preston Fourth Ward, on the hi council, and as no ordinance worker in the Logan LDS Temple. The calling he most fondly remembered was that of serving as a dance instructor with his wife, Thora.
Spencer loved to golf, ride horses, camp and hunt. He always enjoyed doing these activities with his sons, friends and other faimiy members. His family was the most important part of his life and they all loved laughing at his many stories. He was always a wonderful person with whom to spend time. He was a trusted friend, whose engaging personality was most enjoyable.
He is survived by his children, Beverlee (F.L."Tom") Tomas, St. George, Utah; Kristine (Jerry) Twiggs, St. George, Utah; Vance (Loni) Winn, Orem, Utah; Robert (Julie) Winn, Las Vegas, Nev.; 37 grandchildren; 70 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Thora; a son, Gerry Winn, a daughter, Marilyn Green; a son Kevin Winn; and a grandson, Will Thomas.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at 12 noon in the Preston North Stake Center, 310 N. State Street in Preston, Idaho, with Bishop Jeff Palmer conducting. A viewing will be held on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 100t S 800 E. in Preston and Wednesday from 10:30-11:00 A.M. at the stake center. Interment will be in the Preston Cemetery.
