Peter 'Pete' Kohlrus, 88, of Olathe, died July 22, 2013 at St. Luke's South Hospital in Overland Park. Pete was born Dec. 24, 1924 in Trego County, Kans. Pete was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in both WWII and the Korean War. After the the war, he attended Kansas State University, graduating with an accounting degree. He and his wife were longtime residents of Junction City, where he was a civilian employee at Ft. Riley for over 30 years, retiring as Deputy Comptroller. Pete was a member of St. Xavier Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the American Legion, all of Junction City, and Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Olathe. Survivors include his wife, Mary Margaret; son, Mark Kohlrus, Lenexa; a daughter, Carol Dickerson, Overland Park; 2 brothers and 2 sisters, and 5 grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, July 26, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Xavier Catholic Church in Junction City. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Junction City. The family will greet friends at 10:00 a.m. until service time on Friday at the church. Memorial contribution to St. Xavier Catholic Church. Penwell- Gabel Johnson Chapel, Junction City, in charge of arrangements.
