"Another death in Mason. Monday night, of congestive apoplexy. Mrs. Sarah Bishop, wife of Abram Bishop, died quite suddenly, having been up and around in the morning and died at night of the same day. She will be buried from the home of her father, Charles Metcalf, Wednesday at 10 o'clock."
After the death of Sarah's grandparents, Sarah T. (Miller) Holmes and John Worst, in 1852 and 1851, respectively, through the efforts of many helpful friends and relatives, Estella and Charles Metcalf became the owners of the former Worst homestead. That homestead is located next to Five Points Cemetery, originally the Worst Family Cemetery. When the "Edwardsburg Argus" states that Sarah "will be buried from the home of her father, Charles Metcalf", that means that she will be buried at Five Points Cemetery, and such a burial certainly would be in the Worst/Metcalf plot. The small stone initialed S.M. located next to Sarah's grandmother, Sarah (Miller)Holmes Worst, must mark the spot where Sarah is buried "from the home of her father." No doubt the family intended a more substantial stone, but that did not happen. Her husband, Abraham/Abram/Abrum Bishop, is buried with his second wife, Emma Amelia (Kratzer), at Adamsville Cemetery.
Sarah (Metcalf) Bishop's siblings are Lucius J. (married Daisy Gilbertha Adams), Ellis Charles (married Ita Luella Colby), Ida M., Della M.(married William R. Fisher), Anna A.(married U.S. Grant Thompson), Frank (married Ella Gongwer), and Cora I.(married John P. Mengle). Everyone except Ellis Charles, who is buried at Rice Cemetery in Elkhart, is buried at Five Points.
