Mildred Asilee Ambrose Mangum was born in Jackson County, Georgia on January 20, 1878. She was the daughter of Henry N. Mangum and Sarah Elizabeth Puckett Mangum.

She married John W. Mangum and to this union, they had six children: Hubert Mangum who lived in Turner County, Georgia but died in Tift County, Georgia; Beatrice Lula Mangum Overby who spent most of her life in Turner County but moved to Bibb County to be closer to family and died in Macon, Georgia at age 101; Dennis B. Mangum who died in Rebecca, Georgia; Susan M. Mangum (Lindsey( (Haley) who died in New Jersey, John William Mangum who died In Rebecca, Georgia, and lastly Charles Ambrose Mangum who died while working for the Civilian Conversation Corps in Lake County, Oregon.

She lived in Pleasant Grove, Wilcox, Georgia by evidence of 1910, 1920, 1930 Federal Census. She Moved to Rebecca, Turner County and died in this county on March 20, 1957 at the approximate age of 79 due to cerebral hemorrhage (stroke or cerebral vascular accident) four days prior to her death. She had a history of hypertensive cardiovascular disease for 3 years prior to death.

She was a homemaker and devoted mother and grandmother.

She is buried at the Peasant Hill Cemetery in Rebecca, Georgia
