OPELOUSAS - Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005, in the St. Landry Catholic Church for Abbie D. Babineaux who died Monday, Sept. 26, 2005, in her residence in Opelousas.

The Rev. Tremie will officiate the services.

Interment will follow in the St. Landry Cemetery.

Mrs. Babineaux was a member of St. Landry Catholic Church, Beta Sigma Phi and the McDonald's Breakfast Club of Opelousas. She was an active participant in the Queen of Angels Catholic Church Adoration Chapel. She was employed with the Opelousas Tourist Information Center for eight years. She loved drinking coffee, eating biscuits and spending time with "Bear" - her faithful friend and golden retriever.

Survivors include two daughters, Connie Babineaux Gardiner, of Baton Rouge, and Jill D. Babineaux and special friend, Newton Moore, of Opelousas; one sister, Annie Lee Leger, of Opelousas; one grandson, Chris Gardiner and wife, Kristin, of Covington; one great-grandson, Seth Gardiner, of Covington; special niece, Gwen Murphy and husband, David, and their children, of Baton Rouge; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Babineaux; one sister, Evelyn Guillory; and her parents, Jules and Zetta Vidrine Dupre.

Visitation will be observed from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. today at the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas.

Visitation will continue from 10 a.m. Thursday until the time of services.

A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. this evening in the funeral home.

Special thanks to Dr. Eniko Barthel, Dr. Gary Blanchard, Dr. Daniel Buller, Dr. Richard Broussard, Dr. James Cole and the Opelousas General Health System nurses and staff. A very special thank you to the Hospice of Acadiana for their great service.
