MELBOURNE, Fla./ SOUTH HERO, VT. - William "Bill" Willard Adams, age 73, of Melbourne, Fla. and South Hero, Vt., passed away on September 1st 2009 in Melbourne, Fla.

Bill was a longtime resident of Essex Junction, Vt.

He was born on May 17th 1936 in Barre, Vt., he was the son of William and Florence (Willard) Adams.

Bill graduated from Burlington High School in 1955.

As a young man he worked on the Ticonderoga while it was still in service on Lake Champlain.

He served in the Merchant Marines and as a Burlington Police Officer.

He was the beloved husband of 50 years to Kathleen (Cross) Adams and father of three children; two daughters and one son.

For a time, he Owned and Operated the Pine Street Variety Store in Burlington, Vt.

Bill worked for IBM for over 25 years.

He was a member of both the Shriners and the Elks.

While in Florida he enjoyed his many close friends. Bill felt lucky that many Vermonters made their winter homes close by. He loved golfing, shuffle boarding, playing cards, and watching the Red Sox. He was a diehard democrat.

He was predeceased by his parents; William and Florence (Willard) Adams.
