Renee' Colette Ackerson, 56, of Kansas City, MO, passed away at home July 1, 2013.

She was born July 16, 1956.

She worked as a High School and Elementary Art Teacher after graduating from Pittsburg State University with a teaching degree and a Masters from Lindenwood University.

She was a member of the Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority while at Pittsburg State and remained a strong fan of the PSU Gorillas. She was also an avid Kansas City Royals and Chiefs fan.

Survivors include her mother, Janet Ackerson, of Peculiar, MO; three brothers, Chris(Jann), Edwardsville, KS, Ross(Melinda), St. Louis, MO and Mark(Donna), Peculiar, MO; seven nieces and nephews.

The family held a Private Service of Remembrance and she will be interned at Mount Moriah Cemetery, 10507 Holmes Road. The family has asked Memorial donations may be made to the Kansas City Humane Society at 5445 Parallel Parkway, Kansas City, Kansas 66104.
