Born April 4, 1920, in Harwood, Mrs. Neal was a graduate of the former Bayard School in Lothian. In 1982 she retired after working as a housekeeper.
She was an active member of Adams United Methodist Church in Lothian, the We Work Together Circle and the United Methodist Women. She sang with the Goodwill Chorus and the United Choir of Chews Memorial United Methodist Church. Mrs. Neal enjoyed catering with her sister, the late Charlotte Downs. She enjoyed baking pies, embroidering tablecloths and helping others.
On Sept. 30, 1961, she was married to Augustus Neal. In addition to her husband she is survived by a stepson, Stephen Neal of Camp Springs; her stepdaughter, Gail Neal Greenleaf of Largo; two brothers, Richard Gross of Tracys Landing and James Gross of Coward, S.C.; two sisters, Gertrude Randall of Baltimore and Sarah Smith of Annapolis; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Larry Neal.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. tomorrow at Adams United Methodist Church, 937 Bayard Road in Lothian, where a Christian Wake will be held at 11 a.m. and the funeral at noon Saturday. Burial will follow at Chews Memorial United Methodist Church Cemetery, 492 Owensville Road in Harwood. Arrangements are by Reese and Sons Mortuary.
