Howard J. Murray Sr., 76, North Morrow Street, Blairsville, died Wednesday, June 6, 1990, in Presbyterian-University Hospital, Pittsburgh.
The son of Jacob and Mae Murray Cobes and the adopted son of Charles and Anna Murray, he was born Jan. 10, 1914, in Blairsville.
Having lived his entire life in Blairsville, Mr. Murray was a member of the SS Simon and Jude Roman Catholic Church, Blairsville.
He was a manager for Kroger Supermarkets for 42 years, prior to his retirement in 1975.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Lipsie Murray; four sons: Howard J. Jr., Blairsville RD 2; Thomas C., Johnstown; Joseph F., at home; Michael D., Indianapolis, Ind.; two daughter: Mrs. Thomas (Barbara) Duffner, Blairsville; Mrs. David (Patricia) Taylor, Chapel hill, N.C., 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters; Mrs. Robert (Dorothy) Massie, Springfield, Ohio; Mrs. Andrew (Charlotte) Pazur, McKeesport; ...
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mae Tripoli.
Funeral Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday in SS Simon and Jude Roman Catholic Church with Monsignor Thomas J. Klinzing as the celebrant. Interment will follow in the Blairsville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
