On June 8, 2013 Billy Wayne Baccus, 65, of Abilene went to be with his Father in Heaven at home surrounded by his wife and family.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory Street, Abilene, with Dr. David Ray officiating. Burial will follow in Potosi Cemetery, Potosi, Texas, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at a visitation 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Billy was born on May 3, 1948 to James Baccus and Willie Burns in Abilene. Billy grew up in Abilene as a middle child of five. He was blessed with four children, two step-children, thirteen grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Billy worked as a machinist, welder, painter, and general jack-of-all-trades. Billy was proud to have Janet Porter by his side over the last 12 years and recently joined her in marriage as one of his last wishes. Billy enjoyed working, fishing, "pickin and grinin", and spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Harwood Baccus and mother, Willie Lou Burns; sister, Janice McBride; and nephew, Zane Baccus.

Billy is survived by his wife, Janet Porter-Baccus; two sons, Larry Baccus and wife, Cheryl, and Keith Baccus and wife, Donna; two daughters, Sherry Smith and husband, Scott, and Carol Gibson and husband, David; step-son, Kenneth Edwards and wife, Christy; step-daughter, Kelly Edwards; sister, Helen Lavine; two brothers, Jimmy Baccus and wife, Janie, and Darrel Baccus and wife, Sherrie; thirteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
