Helen L. Skov, 97, died Easter Sunday, March 27, 2005, at her home in Blair. Visitation begins at 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 29, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Interment will be in the Blair Cemetery.
Helen Lucille (Svendgaard) Skov was born March 27, 1908, on the farm north of Arlington to Axel and Lucy (Christianson) Larson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran Church at Orum. She was raised on a farm, and attended Bisbee School.
On Feb. 12, 1929, she married Alvin Svendgaard. The couple farmed south of Orum in the March School District until 1952, when they built a house and moved to Blair. After her husband's death in 1962, Mrs. SKOV and their son, moved to Seattle in 1966, where he graduated from high school and she worked for Boeing Aircraft. Mrs. Skov eventually moved back to Blair, where she worked for Robinson Tots and Teens [sic]
On May 3, 1975, she married Alfred "Doc" Skov in Blair. He died in March of 1987. At 97, Mrs. Skov was alert and healthy and happy to be living at Shepherd's Village Assisted Living Facility. She was fond of the staff and residents there. Mrs. Skov was a member of First Lutheran Church. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, two sons and daughters-in-law; and stepson; 20 grandchildren; and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her two husbands, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Marilyn Svendgaard and Lila Conrad; daughter-in-law, Priscilla Skov; brothers, Kenneth Larson and Clyde Larson; and a sister, Leone Selby.
