Obituary for Gorsegner, Viola M. (Nee Tolfa) Called Home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 23, 2007, age 86. Beloved wife of the late Herbert Gorsegner Loving mother of Sharon (John) Best and Nancy (Neal Lehman.) Loving step-mother of the late Ronald Gorsegner, Betty (Cliff) Ehlinger, Richard (Barbara) Gorsegner, Judee Newman (Dick Knox) and Linda (Michael) Lewandowski. Beloved grandmother of Craig(Heather), Kari and Katti Best, Steve, Cheryl and the late Joanne Leman, Mary (David) Refanski, Jason, Whitney, Timothy (Barbar) Gorsegner, Tracy (David) DeAngelis, Nick (Jessica), Joe (Amy), Anna, Rachel and Judy Lewandowski, Loving sister of the late Toni, Stella, Bea, Mary, Flory, Frank, Nick, Ray and John Tolfa. Fond sister-in-law of Jeanette and Marion Tolfa. Further survived by eight great-grandchildren, special nieces and nephews, other dear relatives and many wonderful friends. Sincere and special thank you to Dr. Vellinga and Sue, Dr. Dawson and staff, Prestige Health Care Workers, Wheaton Franciscan Hospice and Staff at Hales Corners Care Center. Vi was an enthusiastic city of Greenfield resident. In 1991, Vi was elected Volunteer of the Year for the outstanding efforts and dedication, in 1997. Vi was a Hall of Fame Inductee for Leader and Organizer, running the Keen-Agers Senior Group for 29 years. In 2004, Vi was awarded the Special Service Award for the City of Greenfield for significant contribution of time and effort to benefit public recreation. The mayor of Greenfield declared February 19, 2005 as Vi Gorsegner Day in honor to her commitment to our community. Vi belonged to the Red Hats and the Pompeii Women't Club, former member of the Ladies of UNICO. God saw you etting tired and a Cure was not to be, so He put His Arms around you and whispered "Come to Me." With tearful eyes we watched you, and although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best. Funeral services on Wednesday, September 26, at St. Matthias Catholic Church, on 94 and Beloit. Visitation Wednesday at the church 9:30 a.m. to time of Mass 10:30 a.m. Interment at St. Matthias Cemetery immediately following Mass. In lieu of flowers, Vi requested donations to the American Heart Association or Juvenile Diabestes Research Association. Schaff Funeral Home 5920 W. Lincoln Ave. 414-541-7533.
