Loder Franklin Tombes was born in Fort Wayne, Allen, Indiana. He was the son of Franklin Beaucha of Larwill, Whitley Co. Indiana and Martha "Mattie" A. Weaver from Jefferson/New Lyme Ohio whom later married James B. Tombes Jr. and adopted him. He married Laura L. Fleming, the daughter of James and Flora A. Osmond Fleming of Painesville, Ohio. They moved to Ashtabula, Ohio and had four children all of whom resided and died in Ashtabula County. Mildred Beatrice Tombes Sieferd, Annabelle Tombes (Herb)Temple, Marleah D. Tombes (Robert)Lampela and Edward Loder Tombes whom married Samantha Jane Ray.
