Mrs. Hurlburt's Mother Passes

Mrs. Carroll M. Hurlburt was called to Portland last week by the fatal illness of her mother, Mrs. Frank A. Knapp, wife of a prominent retired realty broker of that city. Mrs. Knapp's death occurred Thursday morning. She was 69 years of age and had lived in the northwest practically all her life. In 1853 she crossed the plains with her father and his family and was among the early pioneers of Washington territory. Later she became the wife of John W. Brazee, a prominent figure in the development of Oregon.

Surviving are her other daughters, Mrs. M. H. Insley and Mrs. R. P. Effinger, of Portland, and a son Albert J. Brazee, of Manila. She is also survived by a sister, Mrs. M. L. Drew, of Seattle.
Private funeral services were held at Holman's chapel Friday at 1 p. m., after which the body was taken to the Portland crematorium.
