Avron Adams, 18, of Schertz, and a friend got caught Saturday in the swift waters of Cibolo Creek after about half a dozen friends swam across. One friend held onto a tree branch and got out, but Adams did not, officials said.

Avron J. Adams, born November 28, 1994 in Wichita Falls, Texas, the son of Lavetta and Kenneth Adams, died on May 26, 2013, at the age of eighteen.

Avron played basketball and football for Samuel Clemens High School.

Surviving are his parents, Kenneth and Lavetta Adams; sisters, Katrina and Delana Adams; brother, Marcus Adams (Patricia); grandmother, Mary Robinson.

The Funeral Service was on Saturday, June 1, 2013, at Schertz Funeral Home, at 12:00 noon. Graveside Service was held on Monday, June 3, 2013, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, at 11:00 am.
