A devotee of sports. Dr. Howe climbed the challenging peaks of Colorado. His consistent work for a new gymnasium for the Mines campus culminated in the construction in recent years. Dr. Howe was married to the former Helen Strange in Boulder, Colorado. Mrs. Howe, two daughters, a brother, and seven grandchildren survive him. His daughters are Mrs. Kathryn Mudge of McKeesport, Pa., and Mrs. Carolyn Coolbaugh of Mount Prospect, Illinois. His brother is Herbert C. Howe of Pueblo.
