Virginia Louise Starling Pierce, 84, of Fountain Hill, died Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at the Pleasant Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Little Rock.

Mrs. Pierce was a native of Tillar, Arkansas; a resident of Fountain Hill for most of her life and a resident of Star City for the past five years.

She retired from the Ashley County Circuit Clerks Office in 1994 after 20 years of service. She was a member of the Fountain Hill United Methodist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husbands, Homer Pierce, Jerry Collins and J.D. (Durell) Wood; her parents, Charles Thomas & Ethel Winningham Starling; two sisters, Pauline Berwick and Bennevis Hartley and three brothers, CT, Lester and Paul Laron Starling.

She is survived by a son, Hoyle Wood of Mayflower; two daughters, Charlotte Tadlock of Boise, Idaho and Kay Etue of Star City; a sister, Colie Will Berryman of Fountain Hill; four grandsons, Steven Wood, Tad & Todd Tadlock and Jerry Jo Winningham; two granddaughters, Shelly Savage and Kayla Henley; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services are 10 a.m., Thursday, May 23, 2013 in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Boyd Savage officiating.

Burial will be in the Flat Creek Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Fountain Hill United Methodist Church, PO Box 4, Fountain Hill, AR 71642.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
