Mr. Shaw was owner and operator of Shaw's Café in Strong. The first location was in the old Gorman Brothers Mercantile Store, adjacent to Williams Drugs. He and his wife Clara had a café built at the corner of Coleman and Pine Streets, which they ran until his death in 1943. It was eventually sold to the West family, which operated it under the name "West Café" from 1948 until 1964.

Mr. Shaw's father was a doctor at Jersey, in Bradley County.

Bob Shaw married Clara E. Harper at Oxford, in Calhoun County, Alabama about 1924. He brought his family to Arkansas about 1932. After his death in 1943, Clara became a telephone operator in Strong. She later remarried, to Denny Williams, and is buried at Arlington Memorial Park in El Dorado.
