Forrest R. Hill, 75, of Grand Island, Fla., formerly of Tiffin, died Monday morning, Aug. 24, 2009, at his residence in Grand Island.

He was born to Roscoe and Helen (Swander) Hill June 6, 1934, in Tiffin.

He married his high school sweetheart, Donna Rose Serin Jan. 9, 1954. She preceded him in death Feb. 4, 1999. He then married Brenda (Horne) Varney June 3, 2000, and she survives in Florida.

Other survivors include a son, Richard (Pamela) Hill of Tiffin; a daughter, Jane (James) Perry of New Riegel; a sister, Betty Hall of Milan; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; eight stepchildren, Raymond Varney of Omaha, Neb., Robert Varney of Colby, Wash., Jason Varney of Tiffin, Karen Tank and Sandra (Tim) Ring of Tiffin, Carol Varney of Poulsbo, Wash., Paula Varney of Moreno Valley, Calif., and Jane (Michael) LeBlanc of Oswego, N.Y.; 10 stepgrandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife; and a stepson, Stephen Varney.

Forrest retired from Mohawk Schools, where he was a custodian and bus driver for Mohawk and McCutchenville schools. He was known as a handyman and enjoyed working on his home, vacationing in Florida and moving there in 2003.

A Mass will be 11 a.m. today, Sept. 2, 2009, at St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. Gary Walters officiating. A rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass.

There will be no burial at this time.

Friends may visit with the family 4-8 p.m. today, Sept. 2, 2009, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
