WATONGA — Funeral for Clemon Clewell, 89, of Watonga, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2013, at United Methodist Church, Watonga. Burial in I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Arrangements by Wilkinson Mortuary, Watonga.

Clemon was born Dec. 7, 1924, in Watonga, Okla., to Arthur George and Mary S. "Molly" McKinsey Clewell and died Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at his home.

Preceded by two half-brothers.

Surviving are wife, Rita; children, David and wife Kay of Edmond, Paul and wife Jeanne of Oklahoma City, Marcia Davis and husband Ben of Wilburton, and Don and wife Karen of Oklahoma City; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

December 7, 1924 - April 30, 2013 WATONGA Having fulfilled 88 years of service to his community, church and family, Clemon G. Clewell passed from this life at home, surrounded by his family on April 30, 2013. He was born December 7, 1924, in Watonga, Oklahoma, to Arthur George Clewell and Mary S. "Molly" McKinsey Clewell. He was married to Rita Ann Wilson on June 16, 1946. They would have celebrated 67 years of marriage this June. He worked passionately in the hardware and appliance business in Watonga for 68 years. He and his wife Rita retired as co-owners of Clewell's Family Hardware and Appliance in 2006. He was a proud citizen of Watonga and very community-minded. He served as a Cooperative Weather Observer for the National Weather Service for 60 years, retiring at the end of 2012. His steadfast faith was demonstrated through his active participation at First United Methodist, Watonga and in recent months at Quail Springs United Methodist, Oklahoma City. He was preceded in death by his parents and two half-brothers, Glen D. Smith and Bee Smith. He is survived by his wife, Rita, and his children, David and wife, Kay, of Edmond, Oklahoma, Paul and wife, Jeanne, of Oklahoma City, Marcia and husband, Ben Davis, of Wilburton, Oklahoma, and Don and wife, Karen of Oklahoma City. He is also survived by 16 grand-children and 15 great grand-children. Funeral services for Clemon will be held Saturday, May 4, 2013, at 2:00 p.m., at the United Methodist Church in Watonga, with Rev. Larry Masoner and Rev. Dr. David M. Clewell officiating. Committal and burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery, with Rev. Karen M. Clewell and Rev. Dr. David M. Clewell officiating. Wilkinson Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Watonga First United Methodist or Quail Springs United Methodist, OKC.
