Slim is the twin of Erma Blanch BLOXTON Hardick. Fairfax County Birth Certificates; his WWII Draft Registration Card of Oct 16, 1940 lists Falls Church, VA as his birthplace, and John (J. H.) Moncure, Moncure Motor Co., Quantico, Prince William, VA, as his employer ("DeSoto-Hudson-Essex - General Repair Work Intelligently Done") (from "Marine Barracks, Quantico, Virginia, 1930")

He was a newlywed then, having married Emma "Naomi" Sisson on March 21, 1940, Prince William County, Virginia, and they were on the 1940 Census, Quantico, USMC Reservation, PW, VA.

Naomi was born in Virginia c 1918-1919 and died many years before Slim.

Erma received nurse's training free at Philadelphia General Hospital, but couldn't afford trolley (transportation) to and from, so she washed her girlfriends' underwear to make extra money. She was visiting nurse for many in her family living in California, including her nephew and his children.

She had the Gift of Hospitality and was a prankster. She was a Girl Scout leader for many years. She would sunbathe in the barn behind their house in Carlsbad, CA,​ using the opening in the roof that let the sunshine through.​ Their house was torn down and is presently the site of the Carlsbad Post Office.
