Lowell E. Bachelder, 91, died Friday March 15, 2013, following a period of declining health, at Jackson County Medical Care Facility.
Lowell was born in Jackson on July 6, 1921 to Marguerite and Lawrence Bachelder.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 55 years, Anna Lee Billeter Bachelder.
He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Harriet Lee Bachelder, of Jackson; his sons Bruce L. Bachelder (Judith B.) of Morganton, NC and Ross A. Bachelder (Marilyn J.) of Berwick, ME; his grandchildren, Marshall B. Bachelder of Morganton, NC, Aaron M. Bachelder (Heather B.) of Winston-Salem, NC, and Amy Bachelder Jeynes (Scott A.) of Cincinnati, OH; and great grandchildren Lilith A. Bachelder and Violet Rumble and Henry B. and Emma R. Jeynes.
Lowell was a WWII veteran. He fought in Germany where he was awarded a Purple Heart. He worked as a machinist, tool maker, shop foreman, and supervisor in the Jackson area most of his adult life, finishing his career as the superintendent of a small Jackson area tool shop. Cremation will be handled by Nichols-Arthur Funeral Home. There will be no services.
