Dorothy Howland Baker, born September 14, 1908 in Ripley Ohio to the late Anna E. and William E. Howland.

She died April 19, 2013 at Friendship Village of Dublin, her residence for the past 32 years.

She is preceded in death by her husband William Prescott Baker; brother William Hensey Howland. She is survived by her daughter Kay (Chuck) Emrick; grandson Matt (Joy) Russell; granddaughter Susan (Steve) Nagy; great-grandchildren Brandon, Alexandra and Samantha Russell, Steven and Sydney Nagy. Dorothy worked at the Columbus Clearing House and was Secretary to the Alumni Director of the Ohio State University in the 1930's. A member of Twig 40, she served as General Chairman of TWIGS of Nationwide Children's Hospital in the 1950's.

She was a member of First Community Church since 1949, where she was a member of Group F. Dorothy belonged to quilting and sewing groups, and was a perfectionist in all of her handwork. She was a world traveler, taking many trips with her husband and after his death, continued to travel with friends and family.

Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life, and she was a role model and inspiration to them.

The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers in the Health Center at Friendship Village of Dublin for their loving and dedicated care.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Nationwide Children's Hospital Foundation, 700 Children's Drive, Columbus, Ohio 43205 or First Community Church of Marble Cliff.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 22, 2013 at First Community Church, 1320 Cambridge Blvd. Marble Cliff where family will receive friends from 12 Noon to 2:00 p.m.. Reverend Jim Long, presiding. Private graveside service, Green Lawn Cemetery, following the service. Arrangements entrusted to Schoedinger Northwest Chapel.
