Peter W. Heist was the son of John Heist and Louisa Sutmeyer (Sudmeyer) Heist. He died at the age of 44. He was a Liveryman, Hostler, Driver and then a car repairman in 1914 when he died of a sudden heart attack.
His body was buried here in Elmwood. His body was interred in a 25 year leased grave. During the depression the land where he was buried was filled in with new dirt and other dead interred there. His body is still there but there is no longer any stone celebrating his life.
